Stanislav Brusilov (b. 1976) is a leading contemporary artist of the Moscow School of Realism, whose work is celebrated for its power, technical brilliance, and psychological depth. He received an elite art education, attending the Moscow Art School from 1987 to 1994 before graduating from the prestigious Surikov Art Institute in 2000, where he studied in the workshop of the revered Professor V.N. Zabelin. A member of the Moscow Union of Artists since 2001, Brusilov consciously continues the grand tradition of European and Russian classical art.
Brusilov’s style is a powerful and dramatic form of contemporary realism, deeply influenced by his study of the Old Masters. He employs a strong, directional use of light and shadow to create works of great emotional intensity. This is powerfully demonstrated in the works from the Lazare Gallery collection. In "Nude on Red Ground," he showcases his absolute command of the human form, using bold color and dramatic lighting to create a work of timeless beauty. In his landscape, "Old Pine Tree," he imbues a natural subject with a sense of monumental character and enduring strength, treating it with the same gravity and focus as a portrait.
An active participant in exhibitions since 1995, Stanislav Brusilov has achieved significant international recognition, with his work being shown in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, and China. For the collector, acquiring a painting by Brusilov is to own a work by a contemporary master who is a direct heir to the Surikov tradition. His art offers a powerful, modern interpretation of the classical style, making it both technically brilliant and profoundly resonant.
