Ivan Zolotuhin (b. 1962) is a highly skilled contemporary painter and a prominent heir to the Moscow Realist tradition. Born in the Saratov region, he graduated from the Saratov Art College in 1986 before continuing his education at the nation's most prestigious academy, the Surikov Art Institute, graduating in 1994. At the Surikov, his immense skill was recognized as he was considered the most talented student of the legendary Professor V.N. Zabelin. A member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1998, Zolotuhin currently lives and paints in Moscow.
Zolotuhin's work is a testament to his elite academic training, demonstrating a masterful handling of light, color, and composition across multiple genres. In his painting from our collection, "Trinity Church," he expertly captures the peaceful grandeur and spiritual significance of a classic Russian landmark, rendering its architectural details with a sensitive, realist touch. In another work, "Sunny Evening in Winter," he showcases his ability as a landscape painter to convey a specific time and mood, depicting the unique, low light of the season with a sophisticated and nuanced palette.
An active participant in major exhibitions, Zolotuhin's work has been shown at the Academy of Art of Russia in Saint Petersburg and the Moscow Central Artist Hall. His talent has also been recognized internationally with exhibitions in Zurich, Switzerland. For the collector, a painting by Ivan Zolotuhin offers a unique and valuable opportunity. It is a work by a leading contemporary artist of his generation, one with a direct and celebrated lineage from the great Professor Zabelin, representing the vibrant future of the Moscow School of Realism.
