Tamaz Jincharadze (b. 1933) is a prominent master and esteemed professor from the celebrated Tbilisi State Art Academy in the Republic of Georgia. His artistic education was extensive and deeply rooted in the Georgian academic tradition; he first studied at the Jacob Nikoladze's Art College before attending the State Art Academy from 1953 to 1960, where he was a student of professor Korneli Sanadze. He continued with post-graduate studies under the direction of Apolon Kutateladze and has been a professor at the Academy since 1964, shaping generations of Georgian artists.
Jincharadze’s work is a powerful expression of his deep connection to the history and rugged landscape of his native Georgia. This is masterfully demonstrated in his painting from our collection, "Shatili". The work depicts the historic fortress village high in the Caucasus mountains, a subject rich with national identity and pride. Jincharadze renders the ancient stone towers and dramatic landscape with a strong sense of form, atmosphere, and historical reverence. The painting is a testament to his classical training and his ability to capture the unique spirit of the Georgian land.
The work of Tamaz Jincharadze has been celebrated both within his home country and internationally. He has had major exhibitions abroad, including a traveling show through Germany and Poland in 1997 and a solo exhibition in Germany in 2000. His paintings are held in state and private collections across Europe and Israel. For the collector, owning a work by Jincharadze is to acquire a piece by a foundational master of the modern Georgian school, an artist who has not only created powerful works but has also dedicated his life to teaching and preserving his nation's artistic traditions.
His works can be found in state and private collections of the former USSR countries, Israel, Poland, Czech Republic, Holland, England, and Germany.
