Nadezhda Vorobyova (1924-2011) was a beloved Moscow School painter celebrated for her sincere and lyrical depictions of Russian life. Born in Moscow, she received an extensive and prestigious education, first at the Moscow Secondary Art School (1939-1943) and then at the Surikov Institute, beginning in 1945. At the Surikov, she studied in the workshops of several masters, including D.K. Mochalsky, and her thesis work was overseen by the famous professor G.G. Ryazhsky. This elite training prepared her for a long and successful career as a master of genre painting, still life, and landscape.

Vorobyova’s work is known for its warmth and its focus on the human side of the Soviet experience. In the 1950s and 60s, she gained fame for her large series of works devoted to the theme of children and youth, particularly her "Kindergarten" series. This focus on intimate, everyday moments is evident in her works in our collection. Her painting "Morning" captures a quiet, personal scene with a gentle, realist touch, showcasing her ability to find poetry in daily life. In her "Portrait," she demonstrates her skill in rendering character with empathy and a profound sense of warmth.

Later in her career, Vorobyova expanded her subjects to include city and village life, always maintaining her signature heartfelt style. Her work has been recognized internationally, with paintings held in private collections in Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, the USA, and Japan. For the collector, a painting by Nadezhda Vorobyova offers an authentic and masterfully executed vision of life from a bygone era. Her work is cherished for its sincerity, its technical skill, and its timeless, poetic beauty.
