Victoria Samsonova (b. 1975) is a prominent contemporary painter from Moscow and a member of the Artists' Guild of Russia. Her artistic training is rooted in the great academic tradition; after graduating from the School of the Artists' Guild in Honor of Tomsky in 1993, she was accepted into the prestigious Surikov Art Institute, from which she graduated in 2002. Samsonova's work consciously calls upon the traditional Russian Realist school of painting, finding her primary inspiration in the beauty and poetry of nature and in old Russian interiors.
Samsonova’s style is lyrical and sincere, with a masterful ability to capture the intimate atmosphere of a place. The works in the Lazare Gallery collection are prime examples of her focus. In her painting "Interior of Kitchen," she finds a deep, poetic beauty in an everyday domestic scene, skillfully rendering the play of light on familiar objects to create a feeling of warmth and tranquility. In another work, "Blue Flowers," she demonstrates her skill as a colorist and a master of the still life, capturing the delicate beauty of the bouquet with a fresh, impressionistic touch.
An active participant in Moscow and Russian art exhibits, Victoria Samsonova has also achieved significant international recognition. In 2009, her work was featured in exhibitions at the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center in the United States and at The Russian Art Fair in London, England. For the collector, a painting by Samsonova offers an authentic and beautifully executed work from a Surikov-trained contemporary master. Her art is a heartfelt continuation of the Russian Realist tradition, celebrated for its poetic and sincere vision.
