Marina Rubanova (b. 1965) is a highly skilled contemporary artist whose work is grounded in the great academic tradition of the Moscow School. Born in Grozny, she began her artistic training at the specialized art school there before continuing her education at the Art College in Grozny from 1980 to 1983. Her talent led her to Moscow, where she was accepted into the prestigious Surikov Art Institute in 1994. There, she studied under the renowned professors E. Maximov and I. Lubinikov, graduating in 2000.
Rubanova is a remarkably versatile artist, equally adept at large-scale historical compositions and more intimate subjects. While still a student at the Surikov Institute, she contributed to the creation of frescoes at the famous Church of the Kazan Virgin Mary, demonstrating her command of the demanding monumental style. This flair for the dramatic is evident in her painting from our collection, "Faust: Mephistopheles' Emergence". In contrast, a work like "Field Flowers" showcases her delicate touch and skill as a colorist in the still life genre, capturing the beauty of nature with a lyrical sensitivity.
